Not-heads Unite

The Dancing Fool Contradance Weekend 2009 is the first weekend in February (February 6 - 8, 2009).

Due to the unfortunate demise of the Hotpoint Stringband (they have broken up and are thus taking an indefinite hiatus from performing), they will not be playing at Dancing Fool in 2009. But on the bright side, that will not prevent another ultimate line-up of music. Our talent scouts have scoured the contra-planet to find the most innovative contradance music. This year we are introducing Contrazz to the west coast.

Bands for 2009 are:

• Notorious (Larry Unger - guitar, banjo,  Eden MacAdam-Somer - fiddle,  Bill Tomczak - clarinet, saxophone,  Sam Bartlett - Mandolin,  Ralph Gordon - bass, and of course Mark Hellenberg - ultimate percussion!)  
• Contrazz (David DiGiuseppe - accordion,  Rodney Marsh - saxophone, flute,  Bernie Petteway - guitar,  Diane Petteway - keyboard,  Sara Romweber - percussion)

Callers for 2009 are Cis Hinkle (from Atlanta) and Seth Tepfer (also from Atlanta). [Nils Fredland was going to call but decided he would rather tour to Hawaii and Australia in another calling opportunity.]

The location for 2009 is the Leif Erikson Hall -- 2245 NW 57th Street -- Seattle -- Ballard area.

This event is not suitable for beginners.
